Nairobi Hosts Sudanese People’s Diplomacy

Khartoum- In the context of the active role of the Sudanese international people’s diplomacy, the Embassy of the Republic of the Sudan

in Nairobi has celebrated the Sudanese-Kenyan Friendship Week, in the presence of a high-level delegation headed by Secretary General of the Council for International People’s Friendship (CIPF) Abdelmoniem Al Sunni. The Sudanese delegation comprised Commissioner at the headquarters of Khartoum State, the Deputy Chairperson of the Parliamentary Health, Environment and Population Committee, the Head of the parliamentary Sudanese-Kenyan Friendship Association, Head of the African Department at the Secretariat of Sudanese Working Abroad, clergymen, media persons and the Sudanese Balimbo music band. The opening session of the occasion was attended by the Kenyan Minister of Culture, a number of ambassadors accredited to Kenya, representatives of international communities in Nairobi, students and media men. The session was addressed by the Kenyan Minister of Culture and representative of the Kenyan President and the Secretary General of the Sudanese Council of International People’s Friendship. This was followed by presenting a comprehensive documentary film about the Sudan showing its ancient civilizations and its cultural heritage besides its vast natural resources. The occasion was punctuated by music shows presented by the Balimbo Band. The Sudanese delegation participating in the Sudan Week in Kenya (April 3-8) met at the outset of the visit with Sudan Ambassador to Nairobi Al Sadik Abdallah Elyas, who pointed out that Kenya is one of the pivotal countries on the regional and international levels as it hosts the biggest complex of the United Nations Organization and its agencies and other organizations besides offices for the major international media institutions. The Secretary General of the CIPF, on his part, lauded the efforts exerted by the Embassy of the Sudan in Nairobi for the organization of the occasion, which aims at boosting the popular relations between Khartoum and Nairobi. He said that they are looking forward for strong and distinguished relations between the two countries through the people’s diplomacy.
