US Supports AUHIP Peace Efforts in South Sudan

Port Sudan-US Charge d'Affaires Steven Koutsis has announced US commitment to support peace process and consolidate African Union High Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) efforts to achieve stability in South Sudan "US supports the vulnerable victims and we look forward to prevent IDPs and refugees' influx" said Steven who pointed to the causes of famine in South Sudan" Victims of famine can't wait" continued Steven.
He urged Sudanese Peoples' Liberation Movement North SPLM-N to accept US assistance proposal.
Steven was saying the idea of short cutting aids will be decided by Congress, while he was visiting Port Sudan yesterday Steven visited the ship that docked in the Port Sudan carrying aids to Sudan and South Sudan. the US official pledged to enhance international community efforts to realize peace and stability in two Sudans. His speech came yesterday in a press conference following the arrival of the United States Agency for International Development aids.

USAID and WFP Support Food Insecure Populations In Sudan and South Sudan

Port Sudab- The Uined States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) have Welcome the recent shipments to provide urgent assistance to vonerable in Sudan and South Sudan. The two Ships Maritime Faith and Liberty Grace were docked yesterday in Port Sudan discharging over 47, 880 metric tons of sorghum 20,000 of which  will be transported to South Sudan. additional Ships carrying 47.500 were expected to be received in March and April.
US Charge d*Affaires Steven Koutsis has assured cooperation with Sudan government to ensure safe and secure transport of assistance to South Sudan "This food assistance comes ar a critical time" said Steven  who urged all parties to allow food and other humanitarian aid to reach those who need it added Steven. while he was briefing media. He stressed to overcome challenges "We hope to overcome obstacles that impede timely delivery of urgently needed food assistance" concluded Steven.
On his part the WFP Sudan representative Matthew Hollingworth thanked US and American people for thier continued support to WFP operation saying "The arrival of the two ships proves the generosity of the US government and its people" .
The WFP plans in 2017 is to assist 4 million vulnerable in Sudan.
