Magzoub Meets Representative of UNHCR

Kassala (SUNA)- The acting Governor of Kassala State, Magzoub Abu-Musa Magzoub, has received representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Sudan, Ms. Norica Yoshida, he gave full information about the state efforts in hosting refugees from the neighboring countries since the 1960s in the past century, the daily flows of refugees, and its effect on the environment and the communities at the regions that are hosting refugees.
The meeting between acting Governor and the UNHCR representative was attended by the Assistant Commissioner of Refugees in Eastern Sudan, Bashir Mohamed Ali Musa, representative of the UNHCR office in Kassala state, Basher Khan, besides the Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid in Kassala State, Osman Daffallah.
The Governor said that the number of refugees is huge in the state camps, a matter which is negatively affects the services in various fields, especially the communities at the regions that are hosting the refugees, indicating that that this situation necessitates help and aid from the UNHCR and the office of commissioner.
He referred to the existence of some negative phenomena that are relating to the daily influxes of illegal migrations.
The representative of the UNHCR in Sudan said that her visit to Kassala State was aimed to inspecting the refugees' conditions in Kassala and Gedarif states and identifying the required aid and services for the refugees' camps in the areas that are hosting refuge.
She affirmed the importance of the cooperation and coordination between the relevant authorities and partners to support the refugees' camps, beside the hosting communities.
