Salva Kiir Sets Up Committee to Contain Differences in SPLM-N

Juba- (Agencies) South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a decree setting up a committee under the chairmanship of his First Vice President Taban Deng for containing the differences among the leaders of SPLM-North.
Some leaders of SPLM-N expressed reservations over chairmanship of Deng to the committee, but they would cooperate with it and attend the meeting it calls for, since the committee is set up by President Salva Kiir.
Persons close to Abdel-Aziz Al Hilo said they are working to convince Yasir Arman to accept the decisions of the Liberation Council of Nuba Mountains and that they would on their part be committed to not raising the dossiers of the investments he supervises and the foreign deposits at the Mountains Bank and the transfers made through it during 2015 and 2016.
Meanwhile, credible information indicates that Al Hilo’s group has made big strides for implementation of the decisions of the Liberation Council of Nuba Mountains and convincing South Sudan government and some countries and regional organizations related to the movement with these decisions and their justifications.
A special committee set up by Al Hilo is also active in presenting nominations for the positions that have become vacant by the departure of Yasir Arman and others, where the name of rebel Maj. Gen. Izat Koko is cited as the major nominee for the post of chief of staff of the movement, to replace Gagoud Mokuar, who is pro-Arman.
Information indicates that the military leaderships who rejected the presence of Mokuar as chief of staff of the movement have vacated some areas controlled by the movement in the Nuba Mountains such as Al Akhwal area.
