Khartoum - Federal ministry of Health in collaboration with the WHO and the Global Fund organized from 12-13 Sep, 2017 Sudan Health Sector annual meeting under the
theme "Towards One Plan for Health Sector”, under the auspices of the Federal Minister of Health, Bahr Idris Abu Garda.
The meeting was addressed by Dr Egbal Ahmed Al Bashir on behalf of the Federal Minister of Health and the Manager of Directorate General for Planning, Dr Mohamed Tom and the WHO Representative Dr Naeema Al Gasseer.
The meeting was attended by the Directors General of the States, Federal Ministries, WHO, UNICEF,UNFPA, and JIC. The meeting discussed health indicators and joint annual evaluation of the States besides the primary health care and human recourses.
It is worth noting that the Government of Sudan and WHO are working together to effectively improve the public health situation in the country with special emphasis on the five key regional priorities.
There is agreement to move towards One plan, One budget and One report approach for the health sector to increase coordination and collaboration between all stockholders and a primary health care expansion plan 2012_2016 has been developed to extend coverage of quality health care services from 86% to the whole population.
Sudan has made significant achievements in health during the recent decades despite the challenges the country is facing. The government is focusing on universal health coverage and improving the quality of care.
