Arab League and Japan Call for Total Lifting of Sanctions Imposed on Sudan

Khartoum- (Khalda Elyas) The final communiqué of the ministerial meeting for the Arab-Japanese Political Dialogue, held Monday at the Arab League’s secretariat general in Cairo, has affirmed support to Sudan’s efforts for boosting peace and stability, calling for total lifting of the sanctions imposed on Sudan and removing its name from US list of states sponsoring terrorism.
The joint meeting of the Arab and Japanese foreign ministers also expressed support for the resolution of the UN Security Council reducing the UNAMID mission in Darfur and the request of the Sudanese government for allocation of more resources for boosting development and stability in Darfur, affirming support to Sudan’s efforts for pardoning of its foreign debts.
The meeting also expressed support to the efforts of the Sudan for joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), welcoming contribution of Japan in this connection.
The meeting, which was attended by State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hamid Moumtaz, also welcomed the National Dialogue process in Sudan, calling on the holdouts to join it.
